Breakfast provides your body with key vitamins to help supply energy throughout the day. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day and it can be harder to lose weight if slimmers don’t consume food in the morning. Dr Deborah Lee, Dr Fox Online Pharmacy has shared with Express.co.uk how a Sirtfood juice can help kickstart weight loss.
Sirtfoods are a recently discovered group of nutrient rich foods which are thought to activate the body’s skinny genes known as sirtuins.
The diet is based on sirtuins which is a group of seven proteins found in the body that have proven to regulate a variety of functions, including the metabolism.

Here is how to make the tasty green juice.
2 large handfuls (about 2 1⁄2 ounces or 75g) kale
A large handful (1 ounce or 30g) arugula
A very small handful (about 1⁄4 ounce or 5g) flat-leaf parsley
2 to 3 large celery stalks (5 1⁄2 ounces or 150g), including leaves
1/2 medium green apple
1/2- to 1-inch (1 to 2.5 cm) piece of fresh ginger
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 level teaspoon matcha powder

1. Mix the greens (kale, arugula and parsley) together, then juice them.
2. Next, juice the celery, apple and ginger.
3. Then simply squeeze the lemon by hand into the juice before pouring a small amount into a glass.
4. Mix the matcha in and stir vigorously with a fork until the matcha is dissolved.
5. Add the remainder of the juice and give it a final stir.
Dr Deborah Lee explains how numerous studies show that SIRTS have effects on glucose and fat metabolism.
She says: “[SIRTS] improve insulin sensitivity, may help regulate insulin levels, and assist in regulating glucose levels.”
A low level of insulin is key to losing weight as high levels prevent fat from being broken down for energy.
Ginger can help decrease inflammation, stimulate digestion and suppress your appetite.
One study looked at ginger’s weight loss benefits and found that ginger has a significant effect on body weight and belly fat.
When you take ginger and lemon together for weight loss, you may be getting an extra boost for keeping your body healthy and increasing feelings of fullness and suppressing hunger.
Dr Deborah Lee explains that celery has been proven to be a negative calorie food.
She says: “It’s now been proven this is a negative calorie-food – this means you use up more calories digesting celery than you get from eating it! In fact, it seems you use more calories up from celery in a smoothie than eating a stick of it raw!
“Celery also contains lots of fibre which bulks out the food in your gut and helps intestinal transit. Increasing fibre in your diet is good for speeding weight loss.”
Matcha is a key ingredient in these juices and helps boost weight loss while following the diet.
Known widely as a superfood, the power contains a lot less caffeine than a cup of coffee but can provide your body with an energy boost to keep you going throughout the day.
The expert explains: “Matcha tea has been specifically shown to increase fat oxidation (breakdown).”
