SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Have you decided your health insurance plan for 2020? Covered California applications must be submitted by December 15th to receive a 1-1-20 effective date.
Any application received after 12-15-19 will have 2-1-20 effective date and you may pay a penalty for not having insurance in Jan 2020.
The last day to submit an application is 1-31-20 for a 2-1-20 effective date and you can not buy health insurance the remainder of 2020 without a “qualifying event.”
Things to think about when enrolling for a health care plan; does the plan you are considering or have the give you access to the doctor’s and hospitals you want to use, do you have any medical procedures planned in 2020, do you have any new prescriptions you are taking, and what doctor co-pay or deductible are you comfortable with?
