VESTAL (WBNG) — On Thursday, local students were pushing against smoking as part of a national campaign.
Along with the National Great American Smoke Out, Vestal High School’s Students Against Destructive Decisions held an event during their lunch periods.
Students and staff members were able to spin a wheel to learn the facts about smoking and their health. There was also a display from the American Caner Society showing a healthy lung next to a smoker’s lung.
“Smoking is really bad for your health and we need to show people that even JUULs have nicotine in it. We want people being safe and healthy,” said Maggie Restuccia, a junior at Vestal High School.
In addition to the event a mascot by the name of Mr. Butts was also there to spread awareness for a nicotine free lifestyle.
