MARIETTA, Ohio 1 in 9 seniors is at-risk of going hungry due to limited financial resources. In Wood County, seniors are the largest population.
Comfort Keepers is hosting its 11th annual “Feed Seniors Now” food drive. Food will be distributed to seniors through Faith Link, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to area seniors.
The goal this year is to collect 6000 lbs of food.
“They appreciate it so much because when you get to that point where you’re having to make decisions about should I buy my medication or should I get my food; that becomes very stressful and it can become very quickly a downhill health spiral because poor nutrition can compromise their immune system,” said Yeomans, co-owner, Comfort Keepers.
